BHT/BHT-A Training

The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) / Behavioral Health Technician Assistant (BHT-A) Training Program offered by Envision Academy prepares individuals to work in the growing field of behavioral health and human services.

This course provides the foundational knowledge needed to support individuals experiencing mental health, substance use, and behavioral challenges in clinical and community settings.

Participants will learn the essential skills required to assist treatment teams, support patient care, and provide collaborative behavioral health services in programs such as outpatient therapy, community-based mental health services, substance use treatment programs, and residential treatment settings.

Behavioral Health Technicians work as part of a collaborative treatment team and assist with tasks such as client support, documentation, care coordination, and mental health education under professional supervision.

Upon completion of the course, students will receive a Certificate of Completion from Envision Academy.

This certificate may be used as proof of training when applying for registration with the Virginia Board of Counseling as a BHT or BHT-A.

  • Board application fees are separate and paid directly to the Virginia Board of Counseling.

  • Additional documentation such as transcripts or background checks may be required by the state licensing authority.
